Technical Symposium - 1 March 2003

Unix and Open Source in Government

The theme for the symposium is "Unix and Open Source in Government". One of the sessions will focus on past, current and future trends relating to the use of Unix and Open Source software in Government. A second session will include miscellaneous technical material.

Time, Place, Cost

The symposium will be held on Saturday 1 March 2003, 1:30pm-6:00pm at Room N101 of the CSIT Building, Australia National University, Canberra. The cost for participants is $10 for AUUG members and students, or $20 for general admission. Afternoon tea will be provided.

Unix and Open Source at the NLA; A Java web application development framework built around open source software.

Antti Roppola (Bureau of Rural Sciences)

Using the University of Minnesota Mapserver to give public access to spatial data.

Frank Daly (ACT Urban Services)

It's the business, Stupid! (A business perspective of Unix and Open Source.)

Ben Elliston (Red Hat)

Build: A GNU Autoconf, Automake and Libtool replacement.

Richard Keech (Red Hat)

The Acacia Firewall.

Dinner

An informal dinner will be held following the symposium at a local restaurant agreed upon by the participants.
